COA PLANS FOR FALL 2020
Fry Hall at ACU is a large space, we are aware of the circulation rate, and have also added portable HEPA filters with UV.
We will rehearse for approx 30 minutes, then take a break and allow the room to clear/circulate. Thursday evening rehearsals will have 3 time blocks. Monday string sectional we will rehearse for one shortened block of time.
We will NOT rehearse as a full orchestra.
We will have string pieces, a brass fanfare, woodwind ensemble, and possibly a Haydn Symphony or something similar.
We MAY work on a full orchestra piece and perform it outside! We will see.
All wind players will need to play with a mask on (a performers mask or a mask with a slit cut in it) and use a bell cover. If your University hasn’t provided a bell cover the COA will be able to help with that.
String and percussion players will play with masks.
We will sit very distanced. Strings will be 1 per stand, and we will not be in arcs.
Concert plans are TBA. If we are able to do it it will be without audience, rotating pieces with time in between, streamed, etc. Stay tuned!
This is certainly a frustrating time in so many ways, but music is such a source of encouragement. With these mitigations in place we are being as safe as possible! Let’s have a great semester!
